Prof. Fatin Samara is a Full Professor of Environmental Sciences at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Deputy Director of the Energy, Water & Sustainable Environment Research Center (EWSERC). Her research focuses on environmental chemistry, marine pollution, air quality, and ecosystem resilience, particularly legacy and emerging contaminants such as PFAS, heavy metals, PAHs, microplastics, and persistent organic pollutants across the UAE and MENA region. She is a Member of the ACS Committee on Environment and Sustainability, serves as ACS Alternate Councilor (Zone 4), and is the ACS Student Chapter Advisor at AUS, actively advancing chemical sciences leadership, sustainability initiatives, and student engagement within the UAE ACS community.
The UAE ACS Chapter stands as a platform where chemistry connects people, ideas, and opportunity. Our goal is to strengthen the scientific community in the UAE by fostering collaboration, supporting young chemists, and building meaningful ties with the global network of the American Chemical Society. Together, we are shaping a future where chemistry drives innovation and impact.
